When Juliana dropped her single Woman, naysayers jumped her bones. Reason? She was too repeatitive. They said she was over-repeating the word Woman and it bordered on monotonous. It was a good song. I gallantly defended the legendary chantuese. What do we have now? Wuyo by A Pass. Surprisingly, the dust hasn’t been raised. It is calm. No one has bayed for his blood for repeating the word Wuyo for umpteenth time. They have remained seated, perhaps nodding to the song.
To digress, A Pass showed his flexibility in this. He is the new skool ragga artiste, or dancehall, which ever floats your boat. In his songs, he is always energetic and oozing with vigor. He is different in this. There is a touch of raggae and you are tempted to think he might head South with this. He doesn’t. The beat chokes lazily as Apass yaks on and on. It is sweet on the ear; the kind that plucks off your insecurities. Wuyo is a sweet song and A Pass was as good as he has been ever since he hit the road. Good song!
