Despite Uganda’s failure to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following the Cranes’ 2-0 loss to Guinea last week on Wednesday in Casablanca, Morocco, the national football team head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Srejodevic has remained optimistic on the future of Uganda’s football.
Micho says that failure to qualify shouldn’t be reason to give up but rather should teach us to avoid insanity in the game.
“It teaches us never to give up. We should not give up. I’m convinced that the future of Ugandan football is bright. There will be a time when we shall celebrate qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations and it doesn’t matter in what capacity (whether he will be coach then or not). I hope when we finally qualify we shall remember when the seeds of this achievement for 37 million patriotic Ugandans were planted”, Micho told Supersport.com.
Micho also sampled out some of Uganda’s promising young talents and therefore Ugandans should remain positive that one day we will make it to the Africa cup of nations even when we have failed a couple of times.
“We have seen the likes of Savio Kabugo, Farouq Miya, Khalid Aucho all come through this campaign and clearly the future looks good,” he said.
Uganda’s failure to qualify for the AFCON has left many questioning whether Micho is the right man to lead the Cranes. The FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo and Micho will be in front of the cameras on Wednesday during the weekly press conference to conclude the fallen campaign.
