Kampala University knocked out Makerere to advance to this year’s finals of the Nile Special University Football League (UFL).
The two sides shared the spoils in a one-all draw at Luzira Prisons ground in the second leg of the first semi-final of the annual competition.
Walusimbi Abdul scored just nine minutes after kick off to hand Kampala University a lead while Mugema Julius leveled matters for the hosts on the half hour mark.
As the game drew close to its final minutes, Makerere’s goal hero turned into a villain as he was sent off for unsporting characters.
With the 2013 champions reduced down to ten men, their efforts of winning the game greatly slimmed and by the blow of the final whistle, KU were still unbeaten against Makerere.
KU advanced to the finals of the annual competition on away goals’ rule following a 1-1 aggregate score between the two sides after two legs. The first leg was goalless.
Today Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi welcome Nkumba in the return leg of the second semi-final of the UFL. The latter hold a 1-0 advantage ahead of today’s clash.
