Earlier today, artiste Eddy Kenzo who is known for his hit song Sitya Loss called a press conference. This was held at Laftaz Comedy lounge where he was addressing journalists ahead of his Sitya Loss Nice and Lovely concert, the concert is slated for 19th September at Kati Kati grounds.
Addressing a horde of Journalists, Kenzo blamed Ugandan Journalists for always writing trash about Ugandan Music. “If you want us to represent you worldwide, why don’t you stop the negativity?” Kenzo said.
He added: “The press people have always written about me not knowing English but have moved to over 20 countries overseas representing Uganda, where are the artistes who know English. They have also reported about me being gay which is not true. I never went to school but have learnt English from the people that I associate with, you should atleast be thankful that I can express myself in English.”
When time came for Journalists to ask questions, Dembe Fm presenter Isaac Katende alias Kasuku asked a question whose statement took like 4 minutes; “I will say this on behalf of my fellow journalists; you musicians will not criticize our work. For the past one year, Ugandan media has been writing good stuff about you (Kenzo) but you can’t accept. When I go to the club and find Dr Jose Chameleone drunk and helplessly down on the floor, why would I go back and write that I found Chameleone standing?”
Kasuku went ahead and said that the press conference was announced to start at 10:30, when we reached here, the place was empty; Kenzo came at midday and still sat aside. He then expects us to write what we didn’t observe.
He then said that in 2011 when he was still working for Star TV on the Kasuku live show, when Eddy Kenzo had fallen out with Prof. Big Eye. Eddy Kenzo paid a number of media houses to stop playing Prof. Big Eye’s songs so that he doesn’t succeed in his music career. During this course, they started exchanging words as no one accepted the other to first talk.
It became too much for Kenzo who kept on shouting, “listen to me, listen to me , listen to me”, same time Kasuku was still talking. Kenzo stepped on the plastic tables thus breaking them, he jumped straight at Kasuku whom he started punching, he ended up throwing him down, Kasuku kept calm and didn’t fight back, he only defensed himself. Kenzo was then taken out of the venue by his friends where he was seen driving off in his Toyota Noah.
His manager only identified as Cox came back and addressed the journalists saying Kenzo was insulted by being called gay to the extent that he lost his cool. “I on behalf of Eddy Kenzo apologise to the public,” Cox said.
