BigEyeUg‘s Seguya Musa caught up with fast rising female musician Beckie Ug for a quick interview and we bring you the excerpts:
What is your real name?
My real name is Nakirya Becky.
What is your education level?
I finished a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at Nkumba University last year.
What type of music do you do?
I do rap singing and rap dancehall.
Which record label are you signed to?
I am signed to Maren Arts based in German under Nash Weiz as my manager.
Who inspired you to start singing?
I was inspired by Missy Elliot, Beyoncé and locally I was inspired by Afrigo band.
Afrigo band’s music is quiet different from yours, how did they inspire you?
Well, their music is going to live forever and I also want to be that kind of artiste that does music to stay forever which most artists of now days have failed to do. No offence to anyone but most songs fade in one month or two that is why I want to make a difference.
Which Ugandan musician would you like to do a collabo with?
I would love to do a song with Eddy Kenzo. He is young and ambitious.
Is there a musician you think you are better than?
Well, I am better than everyone in my own way because I do something that some don’t. But they are also better than me in their own way.
We understand that you got an accident recently, how is it treating you?
I am better now. I am up again, and I am just waiting for the scars to heal and I shoot Nibinshasha video.
How many songs have you recorded so far?
I have done six songs; Nze Yenze, Omukwano Gwo (ft Mr Woods), Bampita Ani, Be With You (ft Andre and Gift of Kaddo), Minerals(Ebirungo) and the latest one is Nibinshasha.
Any last words to your fans?
To all my fans, thanks for the love and if we all work together, we are going to go to the next level and thank you again for praying for me after the accident that I got.
