The ice bucket challenge, sometimes known as the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one’s head or donating to the ALS Association in the United States has taken off in Uganda.
In the lead is the CEO of Young Treps, Jahluum Luwizza Herberts who led the way and opened up the challenge in Uganda as of today. Since the challenge dares nominated participants to have an ice water bucket poured over their heads. Common stipulation is that nominated people have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by way of a charitable financial donation.
Herberts chose the hard-way out, by taking a bucket of ice water on his body. And to make matters worse, he has nominated Ian Ortega (Editorial Director at BigEye.ug) , Slick Stuart and Themba Nkuna as next in line for the challenge.
The drive has so far raised $22.2 million dollars’ worth of AID. Oprah, Justin Beiber, Britney spears, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Lady Gaga, Charlie sheen, George Bush among others have taken part in the campaign which seeks to create awareness and aid for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
