Ivory Coast head Coach Herve Renard has gloated after winning the Africa Cup of Nations for the second time as a manager saying that Ghana will win the next final they play at in the tournament.
Renard won the continental tournament in 2012 with the Chipolopolo of Zambia and yesterday he made history as he won his second as manager with the Elephants becoming the first man to win the title with two different nations.
“Ghana is a good side and I have had the privilege of working with some of them and I think they will bounce back. This is their second defeat in the final since 2010 while this would have been our third so they may be lucky the next one they are in next time. For me I can say I am a lucky church who had the pleasure of working with extra-ordinary group of players,” Renard told Supersport.com.
While the Elephants ended their 23 year title drought, Ghana will now wait for AFCON 2017 whose host is yet to be named as they seek to end their 33 year title drought. The Black Stars last won the title in 1982 but have since featured in three finals.
