Coke Studio is a one of a kind music show that brings artists from different genres, eras and regions together to create a modern and authentic African sound through musical fusion. Coke Studio Africa show is produced by Coca-Cola Central, East and West Africa.
What is the idea behind the show?
One of the lingering tensions on the African continent is the lack of interaction, collaboration and cooperation among artistes. Coke Studio Africa seeks to break down those barriers through music.

What is the format of the show for this season?
Season 2 comprises eight 45 minute episodes and one double length 90 minute episode. Every show will feature live musical performances as well as a variety of segments including behind the music, artist competitions, challenges and special remixes.

The artists are chosen using the following criteria:
- All from key countries featured i.e. Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique
- Are all stars with strong youth equity
- Have a strong recent catalogue of music which appeals to the youth
- Are all strong music talents
- Have similar objectives to Coke Studio Africa i.e. they want to grow their profile beyond their home countries and are interested in both collaborating with another artist, and in the concept of fusion

Who is the Unknown DJ on Coke Studio?
The Unknown DJ featured on Coke Studio is a mysterious character who crosses genre and style boundaries. It was rumored he was born in a recording studio whilst James Brown performed, but we could not possibly comment. It was also rumored that the only language he speaks comprises of music notes, and that he can only communicate using a Serato Nexus 4. He is signed to a major US record label and if his sound library is to be believed, has worked with an incredible range of US stars including Drake and Jay-Z, but again, we cannot comment.

The concept originates from the Brazilian show, Estúdio Coca-Cola which first aired in March 2007.
