FUFA in quest for 4 billion for Uganda Cranes ahead of AFCON 2017

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is in a quest for 4.39 billion shillings for Uganda Cranes ahead of the 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The development was revealed by the FUFA Finance Director Decolas Kiiza as he discussed the budget for the Cranes preparations ahead of the biennial tournament during a press conference on Thursday at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.

“We presented our budget to the Ministry of Education and the National Council of Sports hopping for their response soon. At this moment, the budget is before the desk of the Sports Minister, Hon. Janet Museveni and we expect the best response,” Kizza told media.

He also stressed that they have never been disappointed by government and remain hopeful for a positive response from the concerned parties as soon as possible.

The Cranes have already kicked off preparations ahead of the continental tournament to which they return after almost 39 years.

Kampala Night Run route confirmed

Organizers of the Kampala Night Run, the first of its kind in the country, have officially confirmed the 2km route for the event, which takes place on June 9 under the theme “Lite the night”.

The Tusker Lite sponsored marathon will begin and finish at Torino bar and restaurant, while taking in most of Lugogo, Kololo and surrounding areas.

Runners will leave Torino bar and restaurant, heading for Hesketh Bell road to join Acher road before heading for upper Kololo. From there, the night’s athletes will head for upper Kololo Terrace through Impala avenue and back to the Lugogo bypass , rejoining upper Kololo terrace and back to Torino. At the finish, winners of different categories will be awarded.

“The route is short not to overstrain the runners because the real party kicks off when the running ends, there’s lot to do after the run,” said Brand 7D’s Ronald Kivumbi, one of the run’s organizers.

In keeping in tune with the event’s fun theme, participants in the run can look forward to an evening where they literally glow in the dark, thanks to various fancy glow accessories that will be available to runners. These will range  from runners’ kits to glowing wrist bands and other accessories.

Arsenal FC, RDB Ink Deal To Promote Rwanda

Arsenal FC – one of the giant British Football Clubs has signed a three-year deal with Rwanda Development Board through its subsidiary ‘Rwanda Convention Bureau’ to promote the country’s tourism.

The Rwanda Development Board, through their subsidiary, the Rwanda Convention Bureau, has become our first official sleeve partner as part of the country’s drive to become a leading global tourist destination, using ‘Visit Rwanda’ messaging,” the club announced on its official website.

The three-year deal, according to Arsenal’s official statement, will also see ‘Visit Rwanda’ become “our official Tourism Partner.”

“The ‘Visit Rwanda’ logo will feature on the left sleeve of all our teams next season. The new kit for season 2018/19 was unveiled on May 22,” the statement adds.
