Filmmaker George Stanley Nsamba is back in a new short film. Known for addressing ‘real issues’ and creating social awareness in his movie projects, Stanley follows the same precedent in his upcoming short film dubbed “SILENT DEPRESSION”.
In his upcoming film, Stanley highlights the increase in depression among youths in Uganda. The short film which is being done under his organization The Ghetto Film Project is based on his own research.
He says: “SILENT DEPRESSION is based on my research on depression which reveals something about the connection between depression and smartphones that leads me to the conclusion that globalization has had a very big impact in the shift in midlife crisis from 40 to 25.”
The short film will feature notable rappers like Malcolm Kawooya, Agee, Zion, and St Nelly Sade.
Rapper Malx (Malcolm Kawooya), who is the lead actor, plays a depressed 23-year-old trying to find himself while rapper Zion MC (Bagonza Shakira) plays an 18-year-old rapper demoralized by her mentor Agee Heroyalhignes (Agee Emiru) but fights her way to stardom.
The film is expected to be out later this month.
