Ethics and Integrity Minister Fr. Simon Lokodo has threatened to close both Bukedde Television and NTV for running programs he thinks are against the proper moral conduct of the country.
Father Lokodo has expressed his dissatisfaction with “Be My Date” and “Abanoonya” TV programs for NTV and Bukedde respectively. Lokodo today revealed that the programs were promoting prostitution and that his ministry will not refrain from dealing with those behind them according to the laws of Uganda.
“I have written to NTV Uganda and Bukedde TV about their shows “Be My Date” and “Abanoonya” respectively, that matchmaking is not good, it’s a form of prostitution,” Lokodo told us at the Uganda Media Center today.
He says the police and his ministry have now formed a squad to curb prostitution in Uganda – ready to arrest the buyers, sellers and owners of the brothels.
