Eddy Kenzo was the biggest winner of the evening at the Uganda Entertainment Awards held on Friday evening at Kampala Serena Hotel. The singer notched 4 awards; Best Video (Soraye), Best East African Act, Best Male Artist and Artiste of the Year as his close rival Bebe Cool walked home empty handed.
While accepting his Artiste of the Year award, Kenzo used the opportunity to take a jibe at other local music award organisers alluding that Bebe Cool (who has always swept local awards) had in the past years been undeservedly awarded. “This is the first time I am attending a Ugandan award ceremony. I have always snubbed Ugandan awards because I have always been ‘robbed’. I have won top awards world over in the past, but never in Uganda. Why ‘rob’ me?” He ranted.
The award ceremony culminated with a very brief performance from Nigerian singer Yemi Alade.
