Ugandan musician Dr. Jose Chameleone has lost the evolution award to Nigeria’s Dbanj.
Chameleone was nominated in the same category with fellow stars including; 2Face Idibia (Nigeria), Anselmo Ralph (Angola), Asa (Nigeria), Black Coffee (South Africa), D’Banj (Nigeria), Fally Ipupa (DRC), HHP (South Africa), P-Square (Nigeria) and Samini (Ghana).
While receiving his award, Dbanj praised the efforts of all other musicians nominated in his category. “A big thank you to God our family, my mum my dad and the whole team bibilets, cocolets and mamalets. To every legend nominated with me I say thank you. This award is dedicated to Don Jazzy – Dbanj,” he said.
The #MAMAEvolution award honoured an established artiste who has made an indelible mark on African and global music culture. “The winner is now the most iconic and influential African artiste of the past decade,” said the organizers.
