Fresh from representing all Ugandan Deejays on the Big Brother Africa stage, Dj Aludah has come out to reveal that he or any other deejays don’t want awards from anyone. The statement from Aludah comes on the back of the just released HMA nominee’s list.
According to Aludah, it is quite confusing how DJs are weighed for their contribution and categorised. Here is what he had to say:
“I did post sumn about the Hipipo awards last night, Specifically the Dj Category but I had to pull down the post coz I figured some people would make it about me and ma brotha Shiru. Media loves Kavuyo so I have to try and avoid that. My take, Djs Dont need awards. Under what criteria does a Dj get nominated, Under what criteria does a dj win these awards?? I thought Awards are given according to what some1 has achieved in a year through a specific art?? What has Aludah, Mark, Shiru,Jay,Roja, Stuart, Hearts done this year that Cisse, Nasselow, Ciza, Switch, Apeman not done this year?? Make noise on Social media, Take cool pics at gigs and post them on SM, Done a song thats gotten people going crazy?? I wanna understand, Under what criteria djs are nominated and under what criteria a dj wins!! My argument here is Djs dont need awards! Yes, We dont need em!”
Aludah is nominated in the Best DJ category of the HMA’s. He is nominated along with Selector Jay, DJ Slick Stuart, DJ Shiru, DJ Roja, DJ Mark, DJ Ivan and DJ Hearts.
It remains to be seen what the comments on this will be.
