BigEye.ug has learned from an email sent to crucial staff at Daily Monitor that Don Wanyama has ceased being Managing Editor for reporting at the publication.
This follows an email, Executive Editor Malcolm Gibson sent out;
“As part of that restructuring, the position of managing editor/reporting has been eliminated, effective immediately, which means Don Wanyama is no longer a part of the editorial operations of MPL. We send our best wishes to Don in his future endeavors,” Malcom Gibson, executive editor.
It is believed that Don Wanyama knew of this decision even before he went on leave.
This means that Charles Odoobo Bichachi effectively assumes the full position of Managing Editor in a power struggle that has seen the departure of Wanyama.
Few days back, Wafula Oguttu the leader of opposition and a minority shareholder reprimanded the paper for publishing a baseless poll. This was the last nail in the coffin.
We are not yet sure of the next step for Don Wanyama. Our sources have it that he may be headed for Nairobi.
