Uganda Cranes striker Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma has completed a move from Kenyan Premier League (KPL) defending champions Gor Mahia to Tanzania based club Simba. The former Express star who also played for Victors F .C before joining the Nairobi stars left Gor Mahia after two successful campaigns in which he guided them to two league titles with the first coming after 18 years.
While in the hands of former Uganda Cranes coach, Bobby Williamson, Sserunkuma became top scorer for two consecutive seasons, scoring 16 goals in the 2013/14 campaign. He has, however, left the club seeking greener pastures and change of environment as he explained in an interview with Goal.com
“I won two titles with Gor Mahia and also finished as top scorer in two seasons. I just felt it was the right time for me to take another challenge. I have no issues with Gor Mahia at all. Gor Mahia will remain my second home. It was a matter of getting a new challenge and taking my game to the next level. I will always have Gor Mahia in my heart and want to wish them a good campaign in African Champions League competition next season,” he said.
The Cranes forward completed his move yesterday evening and signed a two year contract that will keep him at the Tanzanian club until 2016 and will be looking forward to playing alongside other Cranes stars Emmanuel Okwi and Joseph Owino.
