Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has confirmed friendly ties for the national team with European giants Slovakia and Ivory Coast ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations that will be hosted in Gabon.
The Cranes have already kicked off preliminary preparations for the continental tournament with some local build up games against local clubs like The Saints, Bright Stars and Vipers during the previous month.
Preparations plans from the local football governing body (FUFA) earlier on revealed that the team will camp in Abu Dhabi where they will play a couple of friendly matches before heading to Gabon.
The 47-year old Serbian international took to his Twitter handle to confirm the buildup matches that the Cranes will play against Slovakia and AFCON reigning champions Ivory Coast on 8th and 11th January 2017 respectively.
“International friendly SLOVAKIA VS UGANDA to be played on Sunday 8th January 2017 at 7.30pm Local (6.30pm UG time) on ARMY stadium in ABU DHABI,” read one of the tweets.
“International friendly IVORY COAST vs UGANDA will be on WED 11th January 2017 at 5pm Local time on NEW YORK UNIVERSITY STADIUM in ABU DHABI,” he added.
