What kind of attitude do you have? Are you the kind of person who is easily offended, are you approachable or does your mood change with every new day?
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines attitude as a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something that is typically reflected in one’s behavior.
This means that your attitude though concealed from view, will certainly influence the way you react to people or to things.
Donald Trump, current President Elect of the USA and renown entrepreneur once declared that “If you don’t have a positive attitude in business and in life, you will never, ever be successful’. Zig Ziglar, another famous entrepreneur also notes that, “If people like you they’ll listen to you. But if they trust you, they’ll do business with you.”
We could go on and on with quotes on attitude from these business giants but the gist from their collective quotes is that attitude could easily stand in the way of a business’ progress.
Barclays Bank’s recently launched a free online self-teaching training dubbed Ready to Work. This training has modules called ‘People Skills’ and Entrepreneur Skills.
Collectively, both these Ready to Work modules help shape an entrepreneur’s business attitude by teaching skills like considering your own business; setting up a business; growing your business as well as understanding people and improving your people skills among others
Pursuing the Ready to Work training is completely free and will only cost you a few hours or days of your time.
So, as you prepare to pursue the training, below are proactive attitudes that would go a long way in growing your business;
Bitterness or ‘Betterness’
Your bitterness or ‘betterness’ will rub off on existing and potential customers, staff, suppliers and investors. Maintaining a positive, friendly attitude is quite infectious and those in contact with you will be more motivated to either work with you and do business with you.
A goal achieving attitude
Start-up your business with a passionate goal oriented attitude, this way whenever things seem like they are going wrong, you will always be reminded by the existence of this goal to get right back on track.
Fold your sleeves and get working
Be the kind of entrepreneur who isn’t to afraid to fold your sleeves and get working. It doesn’t matter if the people around you won’t get the job done, once you step in positively, you will kick start the entire process.
Mistakes are not dead ends
Businesses will always have hurdles and problems. These problems are not dead ends, rather they are mistakes or losses to learn from. Always keep that in mind.
Honesty and Truthfulness
In business, it’s wise to be honest and truthful. This can include taking responsibility for your errors without wasting time to shift the blame around
Criticism is good
Don’t be the kind of person who sees criticism as an insult rather look at it as ‘Feedback’. This feedback whether good or bad could be just what you need to sort out your business.
