Carol Atuhirwe who is suffering from cancer, together with her family held a thanksgiving service yesterday at All Saints church Nakasero.
During the service, Carol extended her gratitude to all people who supported and contributed towards raising money for her operation in the US.
According to Muhereza Kyamutetera who has been in charge of Save Carol campaign that started in Kampala and later spread to other parts of the country, they have been able to collect Shs 324, 603, 399 through a number of activities such as car wash campaigns, sale of t-shirts and contributions from individual and corporate companies.
Kyamutetera also added that the raised funds are well in excess of what was required for operation that will include surgery of her throat.
He also revealed that Carol advised that excess Shs 54m above their estimated need of Shs 270m be donated to the Uganda cancer institute.
Kyamutetera concluded that they are in final consultations with the doctors on final treatment and travel details as well as final costs.
