Rumour has it that as Bebe Cool performed, Busy Signal stopped his performance mid-way and asked to know who was singing. But away from the rumour, we bring you the final verdict of who won the battle of Champions.

One thing about Bebe Cool is that he brings art to the game, and once again, he chose Omulangila Ndausi to be his MC while Goodlyfe settled for Dicanio and Mc Fish. It was not long, before the abuses began trading between fans, with the Goodlyfe MCs branding Bebe Cool as a fool.

Indeed a fool he was, he stuck to music. Truth be told, when it came to who has more hit songs, Goodlyfe outclassed Bebe Cool as every song they kept on performing was a super hit. However, it’s one thing to have a hit song; it’s another thing to perform it as one.  Radio’s vocal prowess was at its best of all time, even though at some point, the sound system proved stubborn, Weasel was another shining serpent. Goodlyfe performed songs like Number One, Can’t let you go, Ring a Bell, Ability, Vuvuzela just to mention but a few.

Bebe Cool on the other hand, was backed up by his Gagamel band which weaved in faultlessly as they made him the performer of the night. Chameleone who was in the Goodlyfe camp at one moment caught himself cheering on Bebe Cool’s performance involuntarily. Bebe Cool performed songs like Awete, My wish, Kapere, Sinamakosa just to mention but a few.

If it was about who had more hit songs, Goodlyfe won Bebe Cool hands-down, there was no question on that. However, Radio’s vocal dexterity could not salvage Goodlyfe from the defeat at the hands of Bebe Cool who’s one of the few Ugandan artistes that has mastered the art of live performance, strategy and song delivery in ways that get fans musically hypnotized.

By the time the battle came to a halt, the verdict had been passed; Bebe Cool had proven that musical maturity and experience matters greatly when it gets to winning a battle. Overall, to use the analogy of Football, Bebe Cool was at a 58% musical possession while Goodlyfe had a 42% possession. It was a battle that had almost promised to end without a winner, only for Bebe Cool to evolve into some musical wizard in the last 30 minutes that closed up the battle.  To summarize it all, “Bebe Cool won the battle of performance; Goodlyfe won the battle of hit songs.” Bebe Cool is definately the King of Battles, you never know which strategies and tactics he has in his musical bag of unmatched stage performance.

Quick Takes
1.    In honour of Nelson Mandela, Bebe Cool hit the stage in a prison overall and performed his ‘Prison’ and his rendition of Philly Lutaaya; ‘Born in Africa.’

2.    DJ.Michael was on Bebe Cool’s side. Chameleone and Meddie Sentongo were on the Goodlyfe side.

3.    Some of the songs that must have hit hard at Bebe Cool included; Zuena and Lwaki Tokula by Goodlyfe.

4.    On a serious note, Cricket Oval failed to fill up. It seems Monitor Publications finally won Vision Group at a concert.

5.    When it comes to Reggae, Bebe Cool has no equal in Uganda, and he may be Uganda’s top live performer.

6.    Goodlyfe has the most hit songs in Uganda but they are yet to master the art of delivering them in ways that make fans go wild at concerts.

7.    In the first round of the battle, Bebe Cool chose to sing while seated, we are yet to find out what that signified.
