Tensions are high among the Uganda music fraternity after musician Bebe Cool was accused to stealing over 600 million shillings that was donated to local artistes by the President.
The Gagamel boss has been accused of conniving with the President of Uganda rights performers association, Andrew Benon Kibuka by some Kadongo Kamu musicians who include; DJ Kikofira, Paul Katongole, to swindle the money meant for the musicians SACCO.
“You know the president injected money in our SACCO but Kibuka has never given us anything. It’s him and Bebe Cool who have benefited from the money yet it was meant for all performers,” they told a local tabloid on Tuesday during their meeting at Big Bar Makindye where they had met to discuss issues affecting Kadongo Kamu music in Uganda.
At the start of his Presidential campaigns, H.E. YK Museveni was invited by Musicians who had recorded a song praising his good governance and pledged their support for him.
At the ceremony held in Munyonyo, the President donated millions to support musicians in their SACCO. The original composition of singers was made up of; Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleone, Juliana Kanyomozi, Irene Namubiru, Hajji Haruna Mubiru, King Saha, Mosey Radio and Weasel, Pastor Wilson Bugembe, Judith Babirye, Rema Namakula and Sensational rapper Mun G.
