Amarula family comedian, Amooti Omubalanguzi, was more than delighted when he won the comedian of the year award last Friday at the Zzina Awards that took place at Theatre La’Bonita.
Speaking to his voters at the event, the comedian who was overwhelmed with joy dedicated his award to the entire comedy industry.
The city comedian who was escorted by fellow comedians Anne Kansiime, Afande Kerekere, and Alex Muhangi, thanked Innocent Nahabwe, the proprietor of Galaxy FM and Amnesia and the awards committee for recognizing comedy.
“This award is not only for me but the entire comedy industry. This is the first time that a category for comedy has been included in these award ceremonies and we are all grateful. This victory is for all comedians out there,” Amooti noted.
“A big congratulations to our comedy Papa Amooti. Best comedian of the year 2014/ 2015. Zzina Awards,” fellow comedian Anne Kansiime said after the award event.
“He should be given a lifetime achievement award, he is a great comedian,” Salvado said.
“Congratulations my brother Amooti Mubaranguzi upon winning the Zzina Comedian Award. I Respect you and you deserved it. Radio & Weasel, Apass, Zizza, Gravity, BebeCool, Bobi Wyne, Maro…..Congratulations to u all, Congratulations & Thanks for the Hard Work,” Alex said.
