The Uganda Premier League (UPL) defending champions Kampala Capital City (KCC) have chosen Abdallah Mubiru as Goerge ‘Best’ Nsimbe’s predecessor at the club. The development follows the departure of Nsimbe who will be joining Tanzanian based side Azam as their assistant coach come February next year.
Reports indicate that Nsimbe already penned a two year contract with the Tanzanian club.
The news of Mubiru’s elevation from ‘assistant coach’ to ‘head coach’ was announced on Tuesday at the Arirang Hotel at a farewell dinner for the heroic Goerge ‘Best’ Nsimbe after he signed off his duties with KCC FC condemning Kiira Young to a 2-1 defeat earlier on the evening at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
“This club is all about continuity and as a result, we have decided to elevate Mubiru to the head coaching role,” manager Ahmed Kabuye said as quoted on the club’s official website.
The dinner was organized by KCCA to appreciate the tremendous works of Nsimbe that saw the club crowned champions in two successive seasons (2012 and 2013). The dinner was attended by the club’s officials, current KCC players, former club stars like SC Villa’s Sam Simbwa.
FUFA boss Eng. Moses Magogo, Coach Matia Lule of the U-17 and Entebbe F.C, SC Villa Vice President Dennis Mbidde, former Cranes coach Mike Mutebi, Paul Ssali and Daily Monitor’s Fredrick Kiyingi Musisi were the other guests that graced the ceremony.
