Charles Sekyaaya has emerged the first Ugandan to win a medal at the ongoing 11 days Commonwealth games. Charles Sekyaaya won a Bronze medal in the 62kg weightlifting category.
Charles Sekyaaya who led the Ugandan team at the grand opening of the Commonwealth games in Glascow has consolidated his position and has worked hard to raise the flag of his country. Prior to the game openings and sending off of the team, Charles Sekyaaya swore that “We are determined to put up a decent show” and that’s what exactly he did.
With 255 points, Sekyaaya finished just a point behind Australian Vannara Be (256 points) in the second spot with silver in the category won by Wales’ athlete Garethe Evan with 268 points. Ssekyewa posted 113 point in the snatch and another 142 points in the Clean and Jerk weightlifting sessions.
The Commonwealth games are being held in Glascow, Scotland.
